Vendetta

I wrote this piece when I was a freshman college student. It was my entry for the school paper folio. I didn't get lucky though. Why? I got excited and forgot about the theme. Yeah. Silly me. Haha!

His body lies restless
Seeking... Begging...
Of a love he once had
But now was gone forever

Bittersweet!
How could theirs be forbidden?
Intoxicating!
How could fate deal its cruel game?

“She’s the one thy heart’s desire!”
Those words were spitting venom
Should’ve known better
It would bite him back

Disgusted! Fury-filled eyes met his
“Thy affection is a fraud, young one!
It will bring thee nothing but curse!
Choose her then and be an outcast!”

Raw as he was
Weakened by the odds
Consumed of cowardice
He left her

Melancholy conquered thy woman’s being
Grasping for sanity...
Searching a sanctuary...
Chasing memories...

But Alas!
Fragile a heart is
Hope easily shatters
And Death... always an option.

Blood was shed for her loss
Vengeance of either side is delivered
So to say, the cycle  continues
Of an unending blood feud...

I know. I know. Kind of like Romeo and Juliet. This poem doesn't have any personal experience or feelings attached to it. It just came out from nowhere in my mind.

P.S. No. I'm not a fan of tragic endings.
